The must-have list for safe travel

Keep in your luggage

These are the items you just leave in your luggage so you don't have to pack them every time you go away. These items mean you will have to check your luggage. I put them in the bedside table once I get where I am going.

Mace/Pepper Spray

$15

Easy to keep in a sidpockete , I bought more than one and keep them in multiple places. You can't have one in your carry on though.

Knife

$40

My favorite easy folding knife is the Kershaw Brawler. Men probably already own one of these, women usually don't.

Flashlight

$12

I prefer a headlamp for hands free use. This is especially important if you need to use it in conjunction with your mace or knife.

Keep in your trunk

These are the must-have items to keep in your trunk. I keep them in a bag so I can grab them quickly.

Old Athletic Shoes w/socks

$0

Every time I get a new pair of running shoes, I put the old pair in my trunk. You never know when you may have to hoof it. I stuff a pair of clean cotton socks just in case.

Light Fleece

$20

I choose dark colors with pockets. if its already cold, you probably already have a coat, if its not, it may get cool at night.

Water Straw

$13

If you do have to hoof it, water is heavy and may be easy to find and drink safely.

Multi-tool

$40

Won't fix everything, but at least you have options. The price varies by name and features. I chose a middle of the road tool.

Lightweight Backpack

$40

A backpack is optional, but its a great p lace to store your essential items.

Add to your First Aid Kit

If you don't already have one, buy a few and keep them in your luggage, your car, your office, under your bathroom sink. It doesn't matter what grade first aid kit you buy, it will likely be missing a few essentials that everyone should have.

Iodine Swabs

$10

Forget about Neosporin, buy a box and spread these gems around in every first aid kit you own. Nothing beats the germ killing power of iodine.

MoleSkin

$8

Keep this in your trunk and luggage first aid kit. There is nothing worse than sore feet. This can be used on shoes and on skin in a multitude of ways..

Tourniquet

$25

This may seem like a scary one, but it can save a life. I keep one in both my luggage and trunk first aid kits, but I think its most important in your trunk.  They aren't all equal so look for one that is one-handed.

Hemostatic Agent

$12

You pour it on a wound to stop bleeding. Its just easier than pressure.

Wound Seal

$25

I am kind of a princess and I don't like scars. This can seal a wound that needs stitches when you don't or can't get them immediately.

Add a footnote if this applies to your business
